Confederation Bridge by Sea

We had so much fun in 2019, we are doing it again in 2020!

Join us for the thrill of paddling under the Confederation Bridge from Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick. To be able to paddle along the massive pillars of the Confederation Bridge that rise up from the ocean 40 to 60 meters into the sky is a special experience. The trip will take us across the Northumberland Strait as we make the crossing at Abegweit Passage.

This adventure will take us into exposed waters and is designed for paddlers with some previous formal training or paddling experience. This adventure is filled with learning opportunities.  Leading up to the day we will have the opportunity to learn about the tools for tidal planning and strategies for a trip of this nature as there will be a tidal currents and high likelihood of winds as we make this 13km crossing. We will have an opportunity to discuss equipment and gear considerations for a longer day on the water. Lastly while we are on the water there will be ample time to share paddling stories, take photos, enjoy the scenery and wildlife in the Strait. We will also work on strategies for finding greater confidence paddling in more exposed water as well as work on forward stroke, body posture and staying comfortable in your kayak for longer periods.
